But one impression that people fail to grok is that they are emulating the Puritan? s straightlaced beliefs and are prejudice against homosexuals and tribades. Many people are unmindful of the Torahs that prohibit homophiles the rights that characterize them as human existences. Most of you do non believe about your rights and they are often taken for granted. Besides, legion sums of people have preconceived impressions of how homophiles behave. ? All I ask of you is to look around. Gays and tribades are portion of society. Peoples, such as your neighbours, hairstylist, relations, friends, and people you have known all your life could be cheery! Does that do them different? Many people say that homosexualism is non natural. But I ask you, what is natural? They are a constituent of society, and we must allow them equal rights. Homosexuals and tribades encounter spiritual unfavorable judgment and societal unfairness everyday of their lives. Homosexuals suffer unfavorable judgment from spiritual groups because some spiritual texts discriminate against diversified life manners, civilization, tegument colour, and beliefs. Many people support the thought of legal and societal acknowledgment of rights between people of the same gender. Some Christians claim that their resistance to homosexualism and homosexual matrimonies is non in the Bible. But do we non hold the freedom of faith in this state? Most of your ascendants ran off and traveled to this state to get away the wrath of some faiths. Why must we make this to other people? Most heterosexual Americans feel that their life style is being threatened by anything that is different. The book of Genesis does non even mention homosexualism in a negative intension. ? The Genesis history does non prohibit homosexualism ; it merely does non mention to it # 8230 ; A cheery twosome could barely get down the population procedure. But these poetries can non be seen as a theoretical account for all twosomes: many heterosexual twosomes are childless, or unable to hold sexual dealingss. Are they in wickedness because they do non conform to the Genesis history? ? 2 ( n pag ) . So when person asks you if you support cheery rights, are you traveling to state that you disagree because you are racist? Equally good as spiritual unfavorable judgment, homosexuals and tribades has to digest societal unfairness. Imagine falling in love with the individual of your dreams and you are be aftering to acquire married and pass the balance of your lives together. But what if this individual is a different race? Generations ago, this would hold neer been acknowledged, but in today? s society it does non look to be a job. Does the colour of a individual? s tegument alteration who they are on the interior? Most people do non know apart against minorities because of the colour of their tegument, so why do people know apart against homosexuals and tribades because of what is in their Black Marias? Would you allow the authorities to command you on whom to love ; how to populate ; and how to experience? Since homophiles can non acquire married, they work harder for relationships. They travel far and acquire marr ied, and divorce is really uncommon amongst twosomes. Harmonizing to the Americans Civil Liberties Union, many benefits that homophiles are denied include ; societal security, Medicare, infirmary trial rights, particular rates, freedom on revenue enhancement returns, joint kid detention, joint insurance policies, automatic heritage from a will, doing medical determinations on the spouses behalf, and taking a concluding resting topographic point for a asleep spouse. Most heterosexual Americans believe that their manner of life is being threatened by anything that is different. Society is terrified of the unknown, and it is this difference amongst people that spread rumours and misgiving. Distrust leads to detest offenses such as when? A 20-year-old Gay University of Arizona pupil was sitting at a caf? when a adult male came up behind him and punched and stabbed him with big knife. Witnesses heard the culprit stating that he had? killed a f—ing fagot, ? ? this is what gays deser ve, ? and? allow this be a warning to the homosexual community. ? † 3 ( n pag. ) Hopefully one twenty-four hours we will recognize the favoritism involved with denying rights to groups of people. Unless people open their heads and terminate spiritual and societal quandary towards homosexuals and tribades, the bias will non abstain. Unless we begin taking action and helping world to come to clasps with who they are, we can non discontinue the bias towards homophiles. Peoples grow up ashamed of their gender and seek to transformation into something they are non! If you want assist halt bias and hate offenses against homosexuals and tribades, write to your congresswoman and allow him cognize your sentiments. Be a bigger individual than most of society ; accept mankind the manner it is. Mankind has been given a gift, it allows us to see past different faiths, civilization, beliefs, and more of import, life styles. Be directly ; non contract. # 8220 ; Homosexuality, # 8221 ; Microsoft? Encarta? 98 Encyclopedia. ? 1993-1997 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Convergence between GAAP and IFRS Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Convergence between GAAP and IFRS - Essay Example Furthermore, consideration in respect of financial statement presentation and business combination is required significant convergence (Kaiser et al., 2012). Challenges and Benefits of Convergence As far as the convergence is concerned, it can be observed that US public listed companies will be benefitted more if they adopt IFRS as an obligation from SEC. There are various difficulties as well as benefits of adoption of IFRS as a means of convergence. The major difficulty that may arise due to such convergence is the transition of financial statements from US GAAP to IFRS. The transition will cause a significant change in both the financial performance and financial position of the entities. There is likelihood that the entities may not be able to present better financial results due to such convergence which, otherwise they would have presented in case of applying US GAAP. However, the advantages of convergence still supersede the challenge of transition of IFRS by US listed entitie s. Some of these advantages are discussed as under: The first and foremost advantage of convergence to a single accounting framework is the comparability. The benefit of comparability can be illustrated through an example. For instance, if a US entity plans to be merged with a European counterpart, the issue arising for both the firms would be of comparability. The US firm would be following US GAAP and European firm would be applying IFRS. In such case, both the financial statements cannot be matched with each other, as the accounting frameworks are different. Under US GAAP, inventories are valued at LIFO whereas IFRS asks the entities to use FIFO. For that matter, one of the entities would have to translate its financial statements according to the counterparty’s accounting standards. The element of comparability can facilitate the international investors especially those who are interested in the stocks of listed entities. The uniformity of the accounting framework across the globe can help them interpret and compare the financial statements of those companies which are located in different geographical boundaries (Shamrock, 2012). This would make the financial statements more comparable across the globe and would result in an increasing investors’ base. Comparability of financial statements can lead to increase in the inclination of international investors to participate actively in the global equity markets as this step can simplify the cross border investments along with amalgamation of different equity markets. Increased liquidity and reduced cost of funds are the additional benefits that can be reaped through comparability. In short, there would be increased access available to the US MNCs to reach across the globe and utilize their resources in an efficient manner. The second most important benefit available to US entities regarding the adoption of IFRS is the reduced cost of financial reporting. Since these are the costs which US multin ational companies have to face because their operations are spread widely across the globe and they have to prepare and translate the financial statements as per jurisdiction’s applicable financial reporting framework, thus causing increased cost of financial reporting. If US entities are obligated to adopt IFRS, it would result in the

Discussion Replies - Essay Example l powers cannot exist without seeking another military tool that would keep the political and military balance of power in the world sustained as it is. Better still, is the observation that absent the nuclear threat, large army building would be the next strategy for the world powers. The relevance of the argument that nuclear weapons are not irrelevant because they are the weapons against themselves is an interesting but very accurate observation. Nuclear weapons are the weapons against nuclear weapons, due to the fact that they deter any country from using them, since retaliation with the same weapons would destroy the world. Additionally, the observation that nuclear weapons in the world exists only as a deterrence is plausible, owing to the fact that there is no victory that would be achieved through the use of nuclear weapons, as the whole population would already be destroyed. It is also true that with the nuclear weapons eliminated, the new war technology would turn to the use of drones for

The company offers a series of overall services including transportation, electronic business and business operations to global consumers and enterprises. As a brand it has a great reputation. Therefore it provides general business applications and solutions by competing with other companies to work smoothly. According to FedEx China (2009), FedEx has a $32 billion income per year and it encourages its 260,000 staff to pay a high degree of attention to safety problems, moral and business ethics of the highest standard, and also to satisfy the requirements of clients and society completely. In addition, FedEx Express now provides about 3.4 million packages per day. The company operates a fleet of about 654 aircraft and some 43,000 motorized vehicles and trailers.  Moreover, the global FedEx names are: FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, FedEx Office, FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Trade Networks and FedEx Services, (About FedEx, 2009). It has been ranked the most admired and trustworthy company and provides fast and faithful express services to more than 220 countries and regions. There is a world airline and a land network to speedily transport the packages, needing only 24 hours or 48 hours to received (FedEx China, 2009). 1.2 Theories In this report, two theories will be used, Market Segmentation and Market Mix. According to Hall et al (2008:66), Market Segmentation is the break down a market into sub-groups with similar characteristics. Moreover, producer may then create products and services for them. Behavioural segmentation is one of the ways of Market Segmentation; segment markets based on how consumers relate to a product, (Hall et al, 2008:69). Loyalty is an example of behavioural segmentation, where the company separates, and divides consumers into different categories. Apart from Market Segmentation, another theory is Marketing Mix, which includes product, price, place and promotion. The Product requires producers have to know clearly what things are required by customers. The price indicates a business must know the worth of its product. It can make a high price if sold as a luxurious item, but not because of its high cost, (Hall et al, 2008). The promotion includes TV advertising (above the line) and pe rsonal selling (below the line). Place means that the products have to be sent to the consumers at the right place and right time, (Hall et al, 2008). 1.3 Aims The aim of this report is firstly to show how the advertisement is related to market segmentation and Marketing Mix. The second aim is to explain how the advertisement has been created to appeal to consumers. Finally to discuss how this advertisement has been created to target a specific market segment. 2. Findings Figure1: Epromos (2008) The FedEx logo was created by Lindon Leader of Fandor Associates in 1994 (Logoblog, 2008). The Fed is usually purple and the Ex has different colors in different logos, giving different meanings. In this advertisement, the logo is the original one in which the Ex is orange. The background of the logo is white, White means safety, (Color Wheel Pro, 2008). Purple conveys power, nobility, luxury, and ambition (Color Wheel Pro, 2008). Orange symbolizes enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation (Color Wheel Pro, 2008). The shirt is blue, which conveys faith, confidence, trust and loyalty, (Color Wheel Pro, 2008). 3. Discussion 3.1 Marketing segmentation Demographic segmentation, Hall (2008:68) states that markets are often divided by social class. Most target audiences of FedEx are enterprises. Business needs effective, reliable and secure service, thus FedEx provides faithful and safe product delivery and is appropriate to business requirements. Furthermore, the quality, speed and convenience of FedEx appeals to consumers to enjoy their services. The great reputation makes FedEx have a vast range of consumers and businesses all over the world, and enterprises trust FedEx. The lasted successes are a result of the progress of market segmentation done by FedEx. Marketing mix 3.2.1 Price From the advertisement, it seems FedEx provides the service to the average citizen; therefore the price should be low. A FedEx overnight letter cost $11, it is cheaper than UPS and DHL, which cost $12 and $13, ( Oppapers, 2009). 3.2.2 Promotion As mentioned in the introduction, FedEx is the largest express transport company in the world, (FedEx China, 2008). The promotion of FedEx is above-the-line promotion (Hall, 2008). Thus the company publicizes through TV or newspapers. According to Hall (2008), good advertising should raise (AIDA) awareness and interest, desire and action. This advertisement is likely to reach the I of AIDA. In this advertisement, the person is not an attractive or a well-known model, who just an average man in the street. It presents FedEx in a popular style. In addition, this middle aged man in that shirt is making a phone call, he may be a trader. This may show FedExs target audiences to be enterprises. The logo of FedEx is on the shirt, in other words, the person in this advertisement is promoting for FedEx. Overall, the advertising promotes in an original and interesting way. 4. Conclusion 4.1 Summary To sum up, the color usage of the FedEx advertisement (blue) displays the faith, trust and loyalty, because most of their target groups are enterprises. Therefore they use this advertisement to promote their products to these enterprises. It shows the purpose of FedEx, which is ensuring to people their services are consistently reliable and safe. FedEx makes use of Marketing Mix and Market Segmentation in their advertisement to satisfy consumers. 4.2 Recommendations From this advertisement, FedEx use an average man to promote their brand. It would be strategy that FedEx may consider is to find a famous model to advertise, that may appeal more to some consumers. Another recommendation is that the shirt in the advertisement is too blank. FedEx could add several banners to show what they want to promote. Last but not least, the logo of FedEx has different colors which has different meanings, thus they should make use of different colors shirts to appeal to consumers.

Dreams :: essays research papers

Dreams: Could They Be All They Are Made Out To Be?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚ ³Over a seventy-year life span, you ¹ll devote at least fifty thousand hours to dreaming ² (Segell 42). These dreams can be made up of many things. They can be a window into another world or  ³like a urgent fax from your subconscious ² (Graves 97). Many things can affect what we dream about and they are not always our previous thoughts. Things such as gender, information gained during the course of time, or even sensations received while asleep all contribute to the content of dreams. Many times they contribute more than most people think.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Gender affects many things, including the way we dream.  ³Men typically dream about fighting, protecting, or competing in an outside environment; women are more likely to dream about relationships and loss in an inside environment ² (Segell 42). Most men have been brought up with the notion that they must have more of a tendency of being aggressive. In this aggression they either dream about how aggressive they are or about the lack of aggression in their daily routine. Women, on the other hand, have typically been brought up to be more emotional than men. This up bringing has also affected the way women dream.  ³Women are more likely to dial into their interior life whether awake or asleep ² (Segell 42). This means that women will read into their dreams more frequently then men. Researchers have found that problems that occur during the day either at work or home and are worked through in your sleep (Segell 42). While men would most likely look at these d reams as nothing but a dream, women will try to face these problems throughout the day. Although there are many differences there are also similarities between men and women in dreams.  ³Like women, you have slightly more negative than positive dreams ² (Segell 42). Which in this case would show one of those similarities. Other similarities would include sex dreams and the ongoing infatuation about their body and physical appearances. This also shows that although men and women are very different their mind works very similarly. This could be from being brought up or society constantly showing no hope in the life we live.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In the course of the night your mind will keep working or trying to figure out problems that crossed your path over time.  ³Dreams perform emotional homework that helps us master life ¹s lessons ² (Graves 190).
